Behavior is a language

When your child is screaming.

When your child is crying.

When your child is angry.

When your child is having a full-blown tantrum.

Just pause, zoom out, and LISTEN.

Do not respond immediately, do not react straightaway.

Just wait a minute and observe.

LISTEN to your toddler’s words, but don’t forget to also always LISTEN to his behavior.

Behavior is a language, and we sometimes need to listen very carefully, in order to understand what our child is “saying” to us.

A moment of wonderful parenting happens in those few minutes, in which we are able to withhold our immediate reaction, and consciously CHOOSE ANOTHER RESPONSE.
