Our children are learning about relationships by watching us

Updated: Jan 3

Children learn about relationships by observing their parents.

Think about your daily interactions with your partner:

  • How do you disagree / argue?

  • How do you solve disagreements?

  • How do you manage high emotions?

  • Is there some criticism or contempt in your relationship?

  • Is there a lot of pleasing?

  • Are there any spoken-out threats?

  • How much screaming and yelling is there?

  • Do you sometimes use “the silent treatment”?

  • Is there a lot of shaming or blaming?

Your children are watching you and the model you are giving them about love, respect, intimacy, or how to disagree, or have different views on things. If there is something you would like to improve, NOW is the best time.
